Last week, Channel 4 announced that they’ll be broadcasting an uninterrupted six hour party to celebrate 20 years since the birth of rave.

Initially confirmed for what’s probably the first nationally broadcast tele-rave (our coinage) were foundational turntablist Grandmaster Flash and Radio 1’s dance music ambassador Annie Mac, as well as “the ultimate DJ booth”, the ability for viewers to make requests from the comfort of their sofa, and a preceding documentary, set to feature appearances by Pete Tong, Michael Howard, Paul Oakenfold and Will.i.am.

We’re still holding out for some names from rave’s golden age to be added to the bill, but in the meantime it’s been revealed that Strictly Rhythm vet Erick Morillo will join the lineup [via Mixmag]. Probably best known for his 1993 hit ‘I Like To Move It’ (under the alias Reel 2 Real) Morillo certainly has the right combination of global profile and the lightest dusting of credibility. Now, Channel 4, how about taking a punt on 2 Bad Mice?

House Party is set to broadcast from midnight on August 24 until 6am.
