Update: Well, we can’t say we didn’t see that coming: Justin Timberlake’s publicist tells Billboard there are no plans for a new album; Timberlake is currently in Puerto Rico, filming a movie.

In an interview with Digital Spy, pop producer Jim Beanz says a project is in “the early stages.”

Contrary to what Timberlake has said in the period since 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds (variations of “Music is not my focus right now.”), Beanz says that Timberlake and Timbaland have reunited for some “crazy, crazy stuff.”

Beanz has worked with Britney Spears and Katy Perry, and is signed to Timbaland’s production company. Of Timberlake, he says: “There are certain artists who can get inside with great charisma and energy and make great music every time. So it’s not really about topping the last record, it’s more about topping music that comes on the radio.”

Whether or not these rumors are true, we have to side with this PSA from last fall.
