Whistles are well and truly whetted for Kyle Hall and Funkineven’s collaborative EP under the Funkinevil moniker.
Night/Dusk sees the Detroit young gun and London MPC-smith team up over four tracks, and looks set to be a chronological journey through the nether regions of the day – as heard from the very centre of the dancefloor.
We’ve already heard ‘Night’, a singularly sinister jack track with the kind of mischievous streak you’d expect from the duo.
Now you can listen to ‘Dusk’ below, via the Boiler Room. It’s a far lighter affair, centred around breezy pads and a very Kyle Hall-esque fiddly bassline. Its foundation is still raw and dancefloor ready, though – the way percussive patterns flicker in and out of focus suggests vintage hardware may have played a part in proceedings.
The EP is due out soon on Hall’s own Wild Oats imprint, and will be available to pre-order through the label’s site later in the week.
