When not putting in the legwork with their respective bands, Jack Savidge of Friendly Fires and Ed Congreave of Foals moonlight as DEEP SHIT.
Denoting a semi-regular night (with instalments at London’s legendary Plastic People and elsewhere), a DJ unit and a radio show on NTS, the name is the pair’s chance to indulge their club sides: dancefloor-ready deep house and techno is the order of the day, with not a guitar to be seen.
It’s now been announced that the pair will launch a label under the same name [via Clash]. The first release on the imprint, which you can stream below, will come from Congreave himself [pictured]. ‘Heal’ is subtle, delicate deep house, with a melancholic pitched-down vocal tugging gently at the heartstrings – in other words, perfect for an eyes down session at XOYO or elsewhere.
You can also download the track for free here. If you’re willing to wait, however, it will see release in a limited vinyl edition with a special ‘Redux’ version and a remix from A1 Bassline, due for release on September 17.
