Indie film legend Jim Jarmusch and avant-garde artist Jozef van Wissem ready their second LP, The Mystery of Heaven.
Director Jarmusch and lute-punk van Wissem’s Concerning the Entrance Into Eternity was one of the strangest musical pairing in recent memory. The pair met on the streets of New York in 2006. Jarmusch wanted van Wissem to score a “crypto-vampire film” about two lovers, and while the film never happened, their collaborative album did.
They will continue their avant experiments on The Mystery Of Heaven, due November 13 on Sacred Bones. The album will build off their previous work, continuing to explore life after death.
The duo have also premiered a video for ‘The Sun of the Natural World is Pure Fire,’ off Concerning the Entrance Into Eternity. The meditative, abstract video was directed by Diego Barrera, who used the aquatic clip to recreate the mythological story of water nymph Salmacis.
