Kerri Chandler’s fledgling Madtech label has already done more than most to promote UK talent, putting out music from Lakosa, West Norwood Cassette Library and others.
The imprint looks set to continue the run with a single from Hoya:Hoya resident and firm FACT favourite Krystal Klear.
The single sees the man born Dec Lennon continue his mission to plunder “styles and sounds from 1980-1994”, but it appears he’s stepped forward a few years: past forays into boogie have been supplanted by experiments with the palette of early 90s soulful house.
The results, though, are just as satisfying. ‘More Attention’ is a thumping, redemptive affair, balancing Jenna G’s demurely soulful vocal with a few cheeky twirls of synth sax and some undeniable dancefloor heft. ‘My Love Is Burning’ ploughs a similar furrow, but to more incendiary effect, its organ pads and crunchy percussion building to a spine-tingling, hands-in-the-air crescendo.
You can stream both tracks, in full, below. ‘More Attention’ is due for release through Madtech on September 24, exclusively to Beatport, followed by a general release on October 8.
