Nu-disco kingpin Prins Thomas might still be best known for his highly influential collaborations, but he’s a significant artist in his own right. 

A crucial part of the Hans-Peter Lindstrøm/Todd Terje/Bjørn Torske Northern axis, Thomas has devoted his production career to exploring cosmic new iterations of disco house. Thomas’ self-titled 2010 debut was a thoughtful affair, channelling Popol Vuh and noodly kosmische. In the intervening two years, he’s turned out the occasional single (see last year’s wonderfully prickly ‘Lang Tung Ting’ 12″), and, with Lindstrom, churned through the remix commissions for the likes of Twin Sister and The Chemical Brothers.

XLR8R report that Thomas will release the follow-up to Prins Thomas later this year. Prins Thomas II will feature seven new examples of narcotized modern disco. The CD version of the album is slightly beefier, featuring eight tracks sequenced and engineered as a “continuous mix”. The album will arrive on Thomas’ own Full Pupp label, previously also home to Marius Våreid and Diskjokke. It’s also got some faintly adorably cover art, pictured below.
