As you’ll have seen from John Calvert’s review, we’ve fallen hard for How To Dress Well’s Total Loss.
2010’s Love Remains was one of that year’s most wounded releases: steeped in fuzz, its wet-cheeked jams sounded bruised beyond repair. Total Loss, by contrast, is the record when one-man band Tom Krell staggers, knock-kneed, into the light. It’s a strident – hell, sassy – album, defined by its highs as well as crashing lows, and never anything less than utterly open-hearted.
Love Remains is now streaming in full. It’s great from top to tail, but the ‘Set It Right’/ ‘Ocean Floor For Everything’ one-two at the end remains the showstopper. [via Complex]
