At this point, it almost goes without saying that Haleek Maul’s latest video is a ghastly one.
After similiar clips for the Supreme Cuts collaborations ‘M00N’ and ‘The Dummy’, the black-and-white, occult-laden video for ’88’ is not surprising.
’88’ is one of the darkest songs on the Barbadian phenom’s Oxyconteen, with a horror movie melody and sparse, street beat provided by Chicago’s The-Drum.
The song’s video finds Maul in various ruin porn settings (a graveyard, dimly lit stairwells, graffiti-covered basements), alternating between rapping as if in a trance and rolling his eyes back as if possessed. The clip is produced by Merchants of Def, who also helmed Main Attrakionz’ ‘Do It For The Bay.’
