MadTech, the label founded by deep house legend Kerri Chandler, has so far focussed on the UK underground, releasing music by Ill Blu, Lakosa and IO, Krystal Klear and more.
This week, the label launches a new sub-label of free download releases – MadTech’s equivalent of Mad Decent sub-label Jeffrie’s, if you will, but with raunchier cover art – titled MTDL. Interestingly, it’s intended as a home for the label’s artists to release their more “experimental” music, with the press release alluding to contributions from Kerri himself.
The first release on MTDL is titled ‘Know This’, and comes from an Irish producer named Aaron Lipsett. Built around warm chords and a sample from Cassie and Diddy’s ‘Must be Love’, it’s more than little derivative (frankly Cassie samples are so rinsed at this point that the dance music world needs to come together and get some sort of law passed on the subject) but it packs a punch when it drops.
MTDL will make ‘Know This’ public tomorrow.
