The latest episode of Gone Too Soon focuses on Russell Jones, better known to the world as Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
After an episode about Gang Starr’s Guru, BBC Radio 1Xtra turns their focus to Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who died in 2004 at the age of 35.
Stream the documentary over at the BBC website. Charlie Sloth chronicles “the life, times and rhymes” of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, interviewing his family and Wu-Tang Clan members RZA, GZA and Raekwon. The episode begins with ODB’s infamous 1998 Grammy interruption, where he proclaimed that “Wu-Tang is for the children.”
The first series of Gone Too Soon profiled Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. and J Dilla. Series two will profile (along with Guru) Gil Scott-Heron and Amy Winehouse. In addition, RZA is working on two biopics about his cousin and Wu-Tang compatriot.
