Some of the last two years’ most inventive, interesting and downright fun dance music has come out of the New York underground, with Daniel ‘Ital’ Martin-McCormick, of band Mi Ami, right at the forefront.
With his new album Dream On recently released on Planet Mu, FACT’s Angus Finlayson caught up with Ital and his visual collaborator Aurora Halal – a former video editor at Vice who’s shot videos for Protect-U, Beautiful Swimmers and more – to discuss reviews, recording with Hieroglyphic Being, how to make electronic live shows work and more.
As well as her video work, Halal runs Brooklyn’s Mutual Dreaming parties: on November 24, her next event will play host to World Unknown resident Joe Hart, Spectrum Spools’ Container, Jan Woo and DUST. For more information on that, click here.
