Viennese producer Sixtus Preiss is pushing his music as “electronic jazz for the clubs”. We, truth told, can’t discern a jot of jazz, but we’re liking what we’re hearing nonetheless.

Preiss was last around these parts being successfully revamped by regular associate Cid Rim. ‘Kation’ is plucked from the same disc as that ‘Samba Feeling Beein This’ remix, but it arguably trumps the tracks that bookend it.

‘Kation’ shares plenty with another Austrian-bred banger, Dorian Concept’s ‘Trilingual Dance Sexperience’. It’s a triumph of strobing synths, off-beat percussion and general swag; anyone that went nuts for early Hudson Mohawke’s ‘Thank You’ will likely find their pulse involuntarily racing. The clip, meanwhile, sees Preiss take us on a disorientating tour around his home city.
