Opinion differs, but there’s a real contingent of support at FACT for Atlanta singer/rapper Future’s 2012 LP Pluto.
Pluto sees the Gucci Mane flunky not so much reach for the AutoTune as firmly clutch it with both hands. Over a series of tinny beats that range from exuberant (‘Straight Up’) to sinister (‘Magic’), Future rasps and whispers through a pitch-corrector. There have been more eccentric uses of AutoTune this year, but Pluto is still one of those records that constructs its own distinctive – and addictive – soundworld.
As HipHopDX report, Pluto is set to get the reissue treatment. Despite only dropping in April, the album will be repackaged as Pluto 3D with three new bonus tracks. The new version will include two collaborations with beatmaker Sonny Digital ‘and ‘Jealous’, produced by buzzy producer Mike WiLL Made It. A remix of ‘Neva End’ with Kelly Rowland also features, as does a new version of ‘Same Damn Time’ with Diddy and Ludacris.
Pluto 3D drops on November 27 on Epic. The new cover art is below, as is LP highlight ‘I’m Trippin’, featuring Juicy J.
