Neither Disclosure nor El-B need much introduction.
The former, of course, are this year’s pre-eminent breakout dance stars, and it’s a safe bet that their march towards total ubiquity will continue through to 2013. The latter, meanwhile, is one of our more UK storied homegrown producers – a hugely creative standard bearer during the first wave of UK garage, and an endlessly cited touchstone for the 2-step besotted new breed. On a new remix, El-B shows the young pups how it’s done
El-B’s revamped ‘Boiling’, taken from the pair’s The Face EP, absolutely takes his disciples to town. After a minute of foreplay, during which El-B outglosses the lacquered original, things get properly forward: boasting some seriously liquid basswork and that trademark offbeat crunch, El-B’s take is an incredibly strong reminder of the sort of potent moonshine the man can cook up when he’s in the mood.
Earlier this year, a comprehensive mix of El-B’s finest moments hit the web, and remains essential listening. Disclosure’s debut LP will drop next year. [via Pitchfork]
