The Brighton trio will release Wash the Sins Not Only The Face in 2013.
Esben and the Witch, whose self-styled brand of “nightmare pop” is a goth-tinged blend of folk and pop, have announced their follow-up to 2011’s Violet Cries. Wash the Sins Not Only The Face takes its name from a Greek palindromic phrase, in the same way that the band’s name is derived from a Danish fairy tale.
The band’s second album on Matador is due out on January 21, 2013. Until then, stream ‘Deathwaltz,’ a more immediate, percussive song than their shoegazey debut. The album art and the band’s European tour dates follow.
