Primal Scream are connoisseurs of the unlikely guest spot: witness the Irvine Welsh guest spot on ‘The Big Man And The Scream Team Meet The Barmy Army Uptown’, or the Kate Moss feature on ‘Some Velvet Morning’.
The latest team-up, reported over at NME, sounds especially promising on paper. Speaking to Mojo, Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant revealed that he has recorded material with Primal Scream as part of the sessions for their new album. In Plant’s words: “I sang a bit on the Primals stuff because I think their references on looking back on the glorious past and the way they bring them into the contemporary world are fantastic”. Interestingly, the collaboration isn’t the first time Plant has helped out the group – he played harmonica on ‘The Lord Is My Shotgun’, taken from 2002’s Evil Heat LP.
Further information about the record is also revealed in the magazine: The Pop Group’s Mark Stewart will also make a guest appearance, and the as-yet untitled LP will be produced by David Holmes. The band have previously described the LP, due in 2013, as moving in a “psychedelic” direction.
