After a string of previews, Ewan ‘Offshore’ Robertson is finally about to release his long overdue debut album.
Bake Haus arrives off the back of a string of EP releases, including last year’s Pacer collection. Although he shares some brash impulses with compatriots HudMo and Rustie, touching on Bay Area crunk and L.A. glitch-hop, Robertson’s got a tender streak too – much of his work is a far sight gentler than his influences might suggest.
Despite initially being promoted as a “mini-album”, Bake House certainly plays like Robertson’s debut full-length. As per ersatz top-down banger ‘Breeze’, there are a good few neck-snappers in the mix. Elsewhere, electric and acoustic guitars mingle with lilting beats. He’s not the most sophisticated operator in the game, but Robertson’s got a great melodic sensibility, and it’s out in force on Bake Haus.
Big Dada will release Bake Haus on November 5.
