The spoken-word missive is a political re-working of ‘My Favorite of Things.’

In the following fan-shot video, courtesy CoS, Hill cooly works her way through ‘Black Rage,’ a thesis on race, capitalism, and American society.

When Hill announced the single (her first since 2010 one-off ‘Repercussions’), last month, she explained the genesis of ‘Black Rage’ thusly:

“I use the performance platform as an opportunity to express the energy of that moment, and the intention behind it. I’ve been a long standing rebel against the stale, over commoditization. As artists we have opportunity to help the public evolve, raise consciousness and awareness, teach, heal, enlighten and inspire in ways the democratic process may not be able to touch. So we keep it moving.”

The song provides part of the title of Hill’s Life is Good / Black Rage tour with Nas, which started last night in Dallas. The remainder of the tour dates follow the video.
