Louisiana vocalist Mikky Ekko has dropped a new track, ‘Pull Me Down’, produced by Clams Casino.
Clams Casino, of course, is the New Jersey producer behind hits by Lil B, A$AP Rocky and Mac Miller. Clams’ swirling approach to beat-making – more focused on the atmospheres, warmth and heavily-reverberated ambience than he is drum programming – is in full effect here, to the point that it’s hard to tell where some sections start and others stop. With blasts of crunched guitar in the distance, there’s as much Boris or Xinlisupreme to ‘Pull Me Down’ as there are reference points obviously associated with hip-hop.
Mikky Ekko’s debut album is expected next year, with contributions from 21 producer Paul Epworth and more.
