Prince continues to be a massive spoilsport, shuts down Thunderbird-style tribute site

Prince may be up there with history’s coolest ever public figures, but he’s also – as anybody who’s ever tried to throw on ‘I Would Die 4 U’ at a house party will vouch – a bit of a spoilsport when it comes to the Internet.

This week, Prince’s grouchiness reached new levels when his representatives shut down Le Petit Prince: a tribute to the purple one via the medium of Thunderbirds-style puppets that launched last year and quickly became an online hit.

Now, as NME report, Team Prince has issued Troy Gua, the man behind Le Petit Prince, with a cease and desist order, demanding that the project be removed by 4PM tomorrow (Nov 16).

Speaking on the project’s Facebook page, Gua explained that he “will, of course, comply with their demands, whether I agree with them as matters of artistic freedom or not. I simply do not wish to fight with my hero, and it is terribly disheartening to think that he may hold ill will towards me and this project.” Gua had never made the dolls for sale, though there was plans for a photo book and exhibition, which NME reckon “would ordinarily have been protected by ‘fair use’, as an artist’s interpretation of a pop star.”

Stream ‘I Would Die 4 U’ bel… oh, never mind.
