The news follows the announcement of a Brooklyn concert.
The Harlem duo of Vast Aire and Vordul Mega released the indie rap landmark The Cold Vein in 2001, but never returned with a follow-up album. Pigeons and Planes reports that that’s about to change.
“We never broke up, but the timing is now right for a new Cannibal Ox LP,” says Vast Aire. “Iron Galaxy Records is about to take over.” He confirmed that the duo are in the studio now working on the album now. Collaborators haven’t been announced. However, El-P, who produced the entirety of The Cold Vein, stated that he would never produce another Cannibal Ox album.
On December 9, they will play Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory with support from like-minded rappers C-Rayz Walz, Prop Anon, Double AB, Creature, Ireelz, J.Stylez, and Original Text.
