The news this morning: Jimi Hendrix is clocking up another release, J Dilla’s ‘Lost Scrolls’ are being unfurled, and now the sadly absent Amy Winehouse is being commemorated in stone.

As NME report, the singer is due to have a statue erected in her honour near her former home in Camden. The statue will be revealed to the public as part of a tribute concert at The Roundhouse.

According to Winehouse’s father Mitch, the concert is intended to be “like a Live Aid type concert where we get maybe four, five, six hours’ worth. People doing a couple of songs each. Obviously that involves a lot of people”.

It’s a bit of a way off – the concert is scheduled for September 14 2014, which would have been the singer’s 31st birthday. The statue is only the latest in a string of posthumous activities for Winehouse: she’s released a sizeable live box set , been made the subject of a play, and cropped up on Nas’ Life Is Good.
