Ford use Tupac's poetry, The Rose That Grew From Concrete, to sell cars

Tupac, memorably brought back from the dead in hologram form at this year’s Coachella festival, has been reanimated once again.

Back in 2000, Interscope released The Rose That Grew From Concrete, a collection of Shakur’s previously unrecorded poetry. A host of notables took it in turn to read the rapper’s work, including Danny Glover, Mos Def, Russell Simmons and Quincy Jones. As Complex report, Tupac’s poem ‘The Rose That Grew From Concrete’ has been licensed to hawk Ford cars.

The track has been selected to soundtrack a new advert for the car behemoth. Tupac’s words – “By keeping its dreams/It learned to breathe fresh air” – are co-opted as a glib sales slogan. In the clip, Bubbles from The Wire sculpts a breezeblock of chalk into a Ford Fusion- which is probably what Pac had in mind all along. The inspiring/offending clip is available to watch/fume at below.
