If James Ferraro’s 2011 FACT mix was “like spending an hour with Patrick Bateman’s Walkman”, his latest session is more like poring over Hildegard von Bingen’s manuscript papers.

The impish producer’s new mix for KCRW is one of his curviest curveballs – a beat tape of straight-up choral music. No Regrets collects sacred music and operatic fragments, glued together by ambient segues. The mix also features a clutch of understated new Ferraro material, although don’t expect anything in the madcap Bebetune$ mould. What with d’Eon’s collection of Blink 182 etudes, it’s evidently been a good year for postmodern classical revivalism.
