The “purple wow” innovator will release ‘Warrior / The Dome’ next month.

Pinch’s Tectonic will close a year that saw releases from Roska, Distal, and V.I.V.E.K. — along with the superb rarities collection Missing in Action — with a release from Bristol’s Gemmy.

While Bristol’s purple sound has seen better days, Gemmy continues to develop a sound rooted in grime, dubstep, and UK funky. The formula of ‘Warrior’ is familiar (shuffling beat, video game synth, obscure film sample), but the tribal rhythm is an interesting turn. B-side ‘The Dome’ gets right to the point with grimy bassline and dive bombing 808.
