Mr. Oizo opens up his archives on free compilation Unreleased Unfinished Unpleasant

Electro larker Mr. Oizo occasionally gets pegged as something of a gadfly, but the Frenchman’s produced a rich and infectious body of work over his career.

The fellow born Quentin Dupieux has been churning out playful, skittering electronica since the turn of the millennium. Following 1999’s ubiquitous advert fodder ‘Flat Beat’, he’s released a clutch of albums on Laurent Garnier’s F Communications and Ed Banger. He’s got plenty of acolytes, too : Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder saw fit to give 2005’s Half A Scissor LP a full vinyl reissue last year, and he’s been repped in FACT mixes by everyone from Randomer to Daedelus.

As the title makes abundantly clear, Unreleased Unfinished Unpleasant collects a host of sketches and offcuts from the Oizo vaults. The twelve tracks on offer date from between 2004 and 2012: highlights include ‘Pepa & Pepa’ (think Tensnake fed through a bit crusher) and a weirdo transmission from “the reincarnation of Kylie Minogue”. Head to Mr. Oizo’s fun website to nab the collection. [via Tiny Mix Tapes]

It’s not the first time Mr Oizo’s shown his generous side: the Stade 3 EP was released gratis back in April, although you had to navigate a series of zany browser-based obstacles to get there. The great title track from that release is below.
