In probably the least surprising unmasking of the year, Flying Lotus has publicly declared himself to be the man behind the enigmatic Captian Murphy alias.

Captain Murphy was billed to give his first live performance at L.A. beat music epicentre Low End Theory last night. The mysterious rapper took to the stage in cape and hood, subsequently revealing himself to be the waggish Mr. Ellison all along. A corresponding tweet added gravitas to the big reveal.

Those who put their money on Tyler/Earl/Tupac – better luck next time (NB – this scribe still isn’t ruling out the possibility of the Murphy mantle being a rotating project). Captain Murphy dropped his debut Duality mixtape earlier this week, swiftly followed by a downloadable ‘deluxe’ edition. [via Complex]
