The rapper’s seminal debut gets a “special” special edition.
Earlier this year, we reported that Illmatic would be the next premium reissue pressed by Get On Down Records, a label that has given classic albums by Raekwon, GZA, The Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, the Beatnuts, and Big L similar treatments.
The re-mastered Illmatic will be released on “24k Audiophile Gold Disc CD” in a Cherrywood Trophy Box with gold plaque; the vinyl LP comes packaged with full lyric insert. The set also comes with a 48 page full-color, hard cover book that includes liner notes from The Source founder Jon Shecter.
Extras include promo photos, poster, stickers, and (for serious completists) a “reproduction of the original 1994 Illmatic press release.” The deluxe edition is available in a variety of formats now. Nas’ Life is Good was recently named to FACT’s list of the year’s top albums. [via CoS]
