The Gaslamp Killer is the L.A. beat scene’s resident Lord Of Misrule, and the BBC have give him two hours to play with on a corking Essential Mix.
GLK stopped by the BBC last weekend for his debut Essential Mix. In case you missed it, there was a glut of interesting unheard and rare material from some major names. GLK’s old mucker Flying Lotus makes numerous appearances, with rarity ‘Elephant Ride’ cropping up alongside more familiar fare. A previously unheard track from Hudson Mohawke, ‘Multi Orch’, also features.
Plenty of beat music royalty make the cut – Harmonic 313, Daedelus and J Dilla all crop up – and DJ Rashad, Ennio Morricone, Radiohead (twice!) and Black Sabbath are also repped. The two hour mix can be streamed here – head to the Beeb to cast an eye over the tracklisting.
The Gaslamp Kiler’s debut LP Breakthrough is out now. A rip of that HudMo snippet is below.
