The Chicago up-and-comer releases what is probably his last mixtape before his major label debut.
Chicago rap was in the headlines plenty this year, but mostly due to Chief Keef (for better or for worse). But as Supreme Cuts can tell you, Chicago rap doesn’t end with Keef; the “next up” before ‘I Don’t Like’ went viral was King L, whose brand of sex-drugs-street rap is a bit more nuanced.
King L (or King Louie, depending on the project) just shared the highly-anticipated Drilluminati mixtape. The effort features his breakthrough hit ‘Val Venis’, the Juicy J and Pusha T-featuring ‘My Hoes They Do Drugs’, and Keef beatmaker Young Chop. Except for the veterans on ‘My Hoes’, the mixtape doesn’t include any features, which is notable in the year of the posse cut.
