With the sort of surprise good timing that money can’t buy, The Vinyl Factory have announced a new exhibition and catalogue celebrating David Bowie’s iconic 7″ single art
Months in the making, the ‘Nacht Musik’ exhibition will showcase 45 7″ covers from across the singer’s early and middle career. Starting with 1972’s Starman and running through until 1984’s Without You, the collection features the singer in his most celebrated guises: Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, The Thin White Duke. As the exhibition title suggests, special emphasis has been placed on Bowie’s seminal late 1970s Berlin Trilogy period, which spawned the albums Low, Heroes and Lodger.
The collection of iconic 7″s on display will also be available to purchase as framed artwork. A special commemorative catalogue has also been printed in honour of the occasion, collecting all of the artwork in question with an essay by collector Toby Mott. The publication is also supplemented by a 7″ vinyl pressing of a 1978 Bowie interview, plus a fold-out print, and is limited to 300 copies.
‘Nacht Musik’, presented in association with The Mott Collection, will run from February 7 until March 4 at The Vinyl Factory gallery in Chelsea. The ‘Nacht Musik’ catalogue can be purchased through the VF Editions online store.
