90s stars Jagged Edge, Da Brat, and more show up on a remix of The Game’s ‘Celebration’.
Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Recordings will celebrate its 20th anniversary next month with a concert that will feature the label’s roster (including a reunited Kriss Kross).
To commemorate the event, Dupri has recruited Jagged Edge, Da Brat, Dondria, Fresco Kane and Bow Wow for a So So Def reworking of The Game’s ‘Celebration’. Grabbing at relevance, the track references Kanye’s ‘Clique’, Rihanna’s ‘Birthday Cake’, and rising Atlanta rapper Trinidad James’ ‘All Gold Everything’, but it’s a bit of fun, regardless. There are also plans for a label best-of compilation, due in June. Considering the mid-90s classics released on So So Def (Ghost Town DJ’s ‘My Boo’, Brat’s ‘Funkdafied’, anything by Jagged Edge), it should be an entertaining nostalgia trip.
