Is the follow-up to 2005’s Human After All finally in sight?
Check off another item on your 2013 wish-list: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daft Punk have left long-time label EMI for Sony subsidiary Columbia Records, citing an unnamed source (“It’s a done deal.”).
In addition, Le Parisien reports that the duo’s fourth album is due out in Spring 2013. This is in line with what collaborator Nile Rodgers has said previously. In addition to the Chic founder, the duo has reportedly worked with Paul Williams and Giorgio Moroder on the album.
Daft Punk defied speculation by not being among the line-up for this year’s Coachella, allegedly turning down a “gigantic sum of money” to perform at the festival. [via Consequence of Sound]
Update: The Guardian reports that the album is due in May.
