Brit veterans Primal Scream have announced details of their new album, More Light.
The group have been open about the album’s status throughout recording sessions, revealing to Mojo in November that it was produced by former Disco Evangelist David Holmes, and features contributions from My Bloody Valentine’s Debbie Googe (replacing long-term member and Stone Rose Mani), Yellowire’s Simon Butler and The Pop Group’s Mark Stewart.
We also found out that it would be titled More Light, presumably a reference to the famous last words of Romantic polymath Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This morning, speaking to Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 6 Music, Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie revealed that it would be released on May 6 [via NME].
“For us it’s a joy to be able to do this man”, Gillespie told Mojo in that aforementioned interview, “It’s a blessing. People in bands saying ‘my hell making this album…’ Who wants to listen to some cunt moaning about how sad they are? I think they’re just fucking pussies… they’re weak. I’ve got no time for weak people.”
