The winners of the 55th Grammy Awards were announced last night in Los Angeles.
Mumford & Sons’ Babel took away the Best Album prize, and New Yorkers fun. won the Song Of The Year (for ‘We Are Young’) and Best New Artist gongs. The Black Keys, meanwhile, bagged four of the six prizes available to them, including Best Rock Album. Frank Ocean’s feted channel ORANGE picked up the Urban Contemporary Album award, and Miguel’s ‘Adorn’ won Best R&B song.
Elsewhere, Drake’s Take Care won the Rap Album prize, whilst Jay-Z and Kanye’s ‘Niggas In Paris’ took the Best Rap Song gong. Skrillex’s Bangarang and the accompanying single of the same name won best Dance Album and Recording respectively – commiserations, Mr. Walser. The Beach Boys also won their first ever Grammy for The Smile Sessions, which was named Best Historical Album. Check a comprehensive list of laureates, via Examiner, below.
Performers on the night included Justin Timberlake (with Jay-Z), Frank Ocean and Jack White. Collaborations aplenty, too: Rihanna teamed up with Mikky Ekko, The Black Keys jammed with blues legend Dr. John, and Miguel performed with Wiz Khalifa. Other highlights included a surprise appearance from Prince to present Record Of The Year, and some nifty presenting work from LL Cool J. Videos of Timberlake storming the stage (and biting Janelle Monae in the process) with ‘Suit And Tie’/’Push Your Love Girl’ and Frank Ocean performing ‘Forrest Gump’ are below, courtesy of Mr. World Premiere.
