Gerry Read has remixed Finnish double act Clouds’ ‘I’ll Be Broke’, with a firm emphasis on the ‘broke’.

The Oneman-approved pair already make pretty odd music – ‘I’ll Be Broke’ takes skweee’s prim sound palette and squidges it through a mangle. Read’s take, however, is properly demented, setting a farrago of twiddly synths over clattering 4/4 drums. Read’s not one to take the straight road, but it’s still one of the weirdest things he’s put his name to, and a world away from the guttering, cosmic house music found on his 2012 full-length Jummy.

Clouds’ USB Islands EP is due next week on Ramp. Read’s version is take from a supplementary remix 12″, which also includes takes from LHF’s Amen Ra and Tomutonttu. [via Juno Plus]
