London-based music magazine The Quietus has launched its own record label.
Cannily titled The Quietus Phonographic Corporation, the label will launch with Hostel, an EP by a young artist named East India Youth – or William Doyle, to those closer to him than us – on March 22. According to a post on tQ this morning, the relationship between Doyle and the magazine started when Doyle approached editor John Doran at a Factory Floor gig (where else?), and handed him a CD. After several attempts to persuade labels to sign Doyle, the magazine eventually did it themselves.
