Anstam rebrands as Anno Stamm for techno-focused Fragments EP

50Weapons regular Anstam is back with a new alias and a fresh EP.

Modeselektor’s label have taken the German producer to their heart in a big way, issuing debut LP Dispel Dances in 2011 and a brace of 12″s in the months since. They also provided a home for last year’s Stones And Words LP, a varied set that flitted from breakbeat to motorik to computerised prog (and occasionally bit off more than it could chew in the process). Anstam is now set to take a break from the label with an EP under a new nom de plume, Anno Stamm.

The Fragments EP will arrive on Dublin’s All City Records, recently responsible for 12″s from Gifted And Blessed and Krystal Klear. Having moved away from techno on Stones And Words, Fragments will see Anstam returning to the tougher 4/4 sound found on his 2007-2009 EP releases. It’s an odd set: ‘Purple Clouds’ sets detuned AFX synths over some shattered drum programming, whereas ‘Triangular Patch Of Lip’ hovers somewhere between Blawan’s pneumatic stomp and jam City’s frazzled funk.

Clips are available to sample over at Rush Hour. No release date has been set as yet, but we’re assured the EP will arrive on 12″ and digital formats. [via Juno Plus]
