Peep highlights from Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def birthday celebration.

The Atlanta label spawned a host of pop-rap crossovers in the 1990s, including denim-obsessed bairns Kris Kross, R&B dreamboats Jagged Edge and future Entourage bit-player Lil Bow Wow. Dupri has pulled out the stops for the label’s 20th birthday, co-ordinating a best-of compilation and wheeling out the big guns for a (faintly cringeworthy) version of Game’s ‘Celebration’. The main event, however, was a huge anniversary concert last night at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, which was full of spectacles and surprises.

Kris Kross, of course, made their big reunion performance. The pair, backwards trousers and all, rattled through signature hits ‘Warm It Up’, ‘Jump’ and ‘Live & Die For Hip Hop’. Guest of honour was Jay-Z, who joined forces with Dupri to perform 1998 track ‘Money Ain’t A Thing’. The Roc Nation CEO also blasted through verses from ‘PSA’, ‘Niggas In Paris’ and ‘Jigga What’. Monica made a relatively rare appearance, and non-signees Usher, Ludacris and Lil Jon performed ‘Yeah’, for some reason. Other performers included Mariah Carey, Jagged Edge and Lil Bow Wow.
