Brainfeeder’s Lapalux recruits Busdriver for a giddy non-album cut.

The Essex producer will release Nostalchic, his debut LP of “infectious, lopsided swing and achingly deep texture”, late next month. ‘Forlorn’ is an off-cut from the Nostalchic sessions, and stands out on account of a typically madcap appearance from L.A. rapper Busdriver.

Busdriver, as ever, uses his tongue like a hunk of Flubber, ping-poinging across bar lines like a man possessed. The beat, meanwhile, is amphibian alt.hip-hop with a double-time midde section. Lapalux’s will’o’the wisp beat music is sometimes a little too polite for its own good, but Busdriver’s Type 77 flow adds some welcome pep.
