Hard-hitting collaborations are popping up left, right and centre this week as Appleblim emerges from a two year break accompanied by fellow Bristolian Komon, and Stroboscopic Artifacts boss Lucy gets support from LA beatsmith (and FACT favourite) Silent Servant.
Komon is the freshly minted moniker of Keiran Lomax, and while he’s been spotted collaborating with Appleblim before (under the Komonazmuk moniker) this 12″ promises to be a step towards house and bass music. Due to be the first in a series of collaborations for Appleblim’s own Apple Pips imprint, ‘Gas Jam’ is due to drop on on 12″ and digitally on March 25th, backed with ‘Silencio’. [via Juno Plus]
Dropped without fanfare ‘History Survivors’ is the first collaboration from Lucy (aka Luca Mortellaro) and Silent Servant (aka Juan Mendez) and finds the duo cracking their knuckles with a bevvy of extended techno grinders. Similar in flavour to the recent slew of releases from Hospital boss (and close associate of Mendez) Dominick Fernow these brooding late-night jams continue techno’s fascination with industrial music in fine fashion, and should find a space on the shelf next to label-mate Shifted and your grip of Birmingham techno staples.
