Atlanta’s most freewheeling beatsmith preps a release for LuckyBeard.
The prolific DJ/producer always seems ready to drop another collection of bass alchemy, and this month is no different. On March 26, Distal will release the Rings EP: four tracks of amped-up club music, ranging from the cinematic, breakbeat-fueled ‘Hard House Cheer Squad’ (a collaboration with Houston’s Wheez-ie) to the Neptunesesque ‘Nose Handy’.
Rings includes some of Distal’s “weirder and esoteric stuff,” while taking its name from the “rings” referenced in each song title (Saturn’s rings, etc.). The dystopian cover art is provided by Adam Stephenson, in an effort to portray Distal’s aim for the EP: “I wanted all the themes in the other tunes to play out in this futuristic city on another planet.”
Preview the EP below; the cover art and tracklist follow. When we last heard from Distal, he was contributing to our 2012 Advent Calendar.
