Undeterred by Bowie’s objections, Morrissey pulls the greatest Rick Roll ever.
Earlier this month, Bowie demanded that EMI prohibit the use of a photograph of himself and Morrissey that was set to grace cover of the forthcoming ‘The Last of the Famous International Playboys’, a single set to be re-issued on April 8 via EMI subsidiary Parlophone. While Bowie has no legal rights to the photograph, most of his back catalog is licensed to EMI, and the label complied.
Pitchfork reports that Morrissey has shifted his focus from David Bowie to ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ crooner Rick Astley. Morrissey has opted for a photo of the pair taken backstage at BBC’s Top of the Pops in 1989 for the single’s new cover.
Check out the new cover and watch the video for ‘The Last of the Famous International Playboys’ below. Morrissey has returned to headlines recently, either for his anti-animal cruelty battles or his scheduling-altering health issues.
