Drake follows up the bullish ‘Started From The Bottom’ with the more introspective ‘5AM in Toronto’. 

The second transmission from third album Nothing Was The Same arrived on Soundcloud in the wee hours of the morning, and features production from long-time Drake affiliate Boi-1da. As per, well, every Drake song ever, the Toronto rapper goes in for bruised boasting that’s equal parts chest-beating and self-flagellation. The beat, meanwhile, sets ribbons of synth over some Alex Da Kid-style paradiddles. There are some great quotables in there, too – expect “that’s why every song sound like Drake featuring Drake” to feature high in the Aubrey Graham Book Of Aphorisms.

Drake releases Nothing Was The Same later this year. He’s also set to appear on Lil Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being II and Snoop Lion’s Reincarnation.
