Bristol mainstay Peverelist is primed to release a new 12″ on his pet Livity Sound label.
Peverelist, of course, is best known for his stewardship of the wonderful Punch Drunk imprint, but he’s also one of the three heads (alongside Kowton and Asusu) behind Livity Sound. Thus far, the label’s served as an outlet for the triumverate to put out their own music: Peverelist (as Pev) and Kowton kicked off proceedings with the eerie bricolage of ‘Beneath Radar’ in 2011, and all three have issued brittle, atmospheric solo 12″s on the label. The pattern will continue on the fifth Livity Sound release, which will mark Peverelist’s first disc on the label since last year’s ‘Salt Water’/’Erosions’ 12″.
‘Aztec Chant’/’Livity’ arrives hot on the heels of ‘Raw Code’, Peverelist’s killer joint effort with Kowton for Hessle Audio. As per ‘Salt Water’ and ‘Raw Code’, the producer will trade under the snappier Pev alias. The A-side is carried by a dubby, circling percussion motif and Pev’s familiar aquatic breakbeats. The flip (available for yonks via his Soundcloud page) is much more forthright, with a buzzsaw acid lead clamouring for attention.
‘Aztec Chant’/’Livity’ will drop on 12″ this week; clips of both tracks are available over at Red Eye Records. Peverelist also gets a timely nod in this week’s FACT mix, courtesy of Houndstooth’s Call Super. [via Juno Plus]
