Ben Westbeech continues working under his brawniest alias on a new EP.
Westbeech’s discography incorporates everything from vocal-led soul to Gilles Peterson-approved fusion. Since 2011’s ace ‘Fatherless’, however, he’s focused his efforts on rugged house alias Breach. In the last year, Westbeech has confined his Breach material to the fledgling Naked Naked label, releasing collaborative 12″s with Midland and Dark Sky. Three-track EP Jack will see him make a lateral step onto Claude VonStroke’s seasoned Dirtybird imprint, last responsible for February’s Dirtybird Players download compilation.
‘Jack’, true to its title, is a bold, brash pastiche of Chicago house. Flip ‘Let’s Get Hot’, meanwhile, is looser and techier, and comes complete with naughty/naff vocal. A starry-eyed ‘Let’s Get Hot’ dub edit rounds out the tracklist. Clips of the EP are available to sample below.
Jack will get a full digital release on April 15, although the record will be available to download through recent SFX acquistion Beatport on April 1. You can hear Breach’s muscular 2012 FACT mix here.
