Richie Hawtin and Deadmau5 will follow their talk at SXSW 2013 with a collaborative “performance of stripped back techno” at the festival.
Hawtin is no stranger to going head to head with big names of the EDM sect: he interviewed Skrillex for Mixmag last year, and as previously reported, SXSW 2013 will see the M-nus boss in discussion with deadmau5. The two musicians will be discussing their careers “with a huge focus on innovations in technology and the power of social media”. Hawtin has a particularly keen interest in the latter: his Twitter feed is a rolling playlist that collects everything played on his DJ sets, and he debated Twitter and more at last year’s Sonar festival.
It’s now been announced that the Hawtin and Deadmau5 show will continue into the evening, with a collaborative set (we’re guessing this means back-to-back) at the Interactive Closing Party. Billed as a “one off performance of stripped back techno”, they’ll be supported by The Joy Formidable and Local Natives. The party is open to Interactive, Gold and Platinum badgeholders at the festival; more information here.
