San Fernando Valley native Zane ‘SFV Acid’ Reynolds specialises in weirdo acid house.
Following on from a split release with recent FACT interviewee Polysick in 2010, Reynolds has impressed with a string of lo-fi, psychedelic acid house discs. There’s a hint of vogishness about his music – previous patrons include hipster bastions UNO NYC and 100% Silk – but his skewed acid pastiches do a good job of sounding quirky and deferential at the same time.
As reported, Reynolds will release a new album on UNO NYC in the coming months. As a teaser, Reynolds has posted a trailer mix of new and unreleased material. As well as music from the new record, the #1HIARTHIFASH mix also features music from a series of low-key cassette releases only available in Japan.
Reynolds describes the session as “the best and worst of my current scene – all solo dolo’d on the 1’s and 2’s by myself”. It’s a hypnotic collection of rudely assembled acid house, mixing Octa Octa’s synthetic lustre with DMX Krew’s acid squelch. The set also includes a couple of tracks from the Steiner-inspired Eurythmy Room Band (another Reynolds project, we assume).
