Last night, Beyoncé revealed a two-part taster of her forthcoming fifth studio album.
‘Bow Down’/’I Been On’, we’re assuming, is two forthcoming tracks crammed into one. Hit-Boy handles production on the ‘Bow Down’ segment, with Timbaland on duty for part two. As if that wasn’t star wattage enough, The-Dream and Polow Da Don also reportedly had a hand in the track(s).
The first half sees Beyoncé in ‘Run The World’ warrior queen mode, although the sentiment (“Bow down, bitches”) is somewhat less egalitarian in its message. ‘I Been On’, meanwhile, will be familiar to anyone who caught the preview trailer for Beyoncé’s forthcoming tour. Hit-Boy’s beat is a languid re-reading of Crystal Castles’ widescreen chiptune; Timbaland’s section is an East-facing track led by a pitched-down monologue.
